Exhibitions- Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms

Andy Warhol,
"Classic, Provocative, Thrilling"-

The catch line to Other Voices, Other Rooms-
Think thats all that needs to be said!

Inspiration and Enjoyment

I loved this production of Cabaret...i also loved that 3 people walked out of the show after the first 5 minutes due to nudity!!!

I really like the style of the iconic art, allbeit designed to advertise the film not stage show!

In brief, Metamorphosis tells the story of Gregor Samsa, who one day wakes up as a giant vermin. While Gregor attempts to come to terms with his transformation, his family tries to live with him, or rather around him, for he is largely ignored and slowly almost forgotten. As Gregor diminishes in both spirit and memory, the family thrives, at which point the autumn performance concluded in an ending that was described as both poignantly exquisite, high kitsch, astonishingly sad and extraordinarily breathtaking.. (Taken from The Londonist)
The use of light and the main character's body was truely art in this production. The man made himself transform in to bug...lighting and shadow played a massive part in conveying the metamorphosis.

Exhibitions- John Lee Bird

I went to John Lee Bird's "Before Encore"
Exhibition about a year ago. The paintings are
done on a massive scale and are absolutely
captivating in a way i never expected!
The evening contained singing, dancing, wine,
a fashion show...strange but i loved it!

Exhibitions- Lure of the East

One of the pictures from the Lure of the East Exhibition at Tate Britian...i love exposing myself to different cultures.
Not only were the paintings amazing the subject matter was fascinating, so different from traditional British styles.
The use of light is fantastic!

After returning from his last European trip, Hopper rented a studio in New York City. His exposure to many styles of art seemed to do little to help him find his own distinctive style. Reluctantly, he returned to illustration. Being a free-lancer, Hopper was forced to solicit for projects, and had to knock on the doors of magazine and agency offices to find business. His painting languished, “it’s hard for me to decide what I want to paint. I go for months without finding it sometimes. It comes slowly.” His fellow illustrator Walter Tittle described Hopper’s depressed emotional state in sharper terms, seeing his friend “suffering…from long periods of unconquerable inertia, sitting for days at a time before his easel in helpless unhappiness, unable to raise a hand to break the spell.”In 1912, Hopper traveled to Gloucester, Massachusetts, to seek some inspiration and did his first outdoor paintings in America. He painted Squam Light, the first of many lighthouse paintings to come. (Taken from Wikipeadia)

Places I have visited

This is La Roque sur Ceze, where i went on holiday last summer...it was beautiful!

This is a painting of La Roque by Malanda Trick, which i really like...

Mont Blanc by Percy Bysshe Shelley
1
The everlasting universe of things Flows through the mind, and rolls its rapid waves, Now dark - now glittering - now reflecting gloom - Now lending splendor, where from secret springs The source of human thought its tribute brings Of waters, - with a sound but half its own, Such as a feeble brook will oft assume In the wild woods, amon the mountains lone, Where waterfalls around it leap for ever, Where woods and winds contend, and a vast river Over its rocks ceaselessly bursts and raves.
(Just the first stanza)
This is where i went snowboarding, it was awsome!!!

My Designs: photoshop design manipulation examples

These are a handful of initial designs for my an independent contact/creative business card.

This is my design for a Thank You card which i sent to my friend and family to say Thank You for sending me snowboarding!!!

Here are key examples of a concept design approach to a small workshop project "Art is a lie" from my first year at UEL.
I Don't have the image that was the original untouched template for this design manipulation, but here is also an accompanying a pic of the lady that i had copied another facial profile into.

These images are a brief initial design collection i produced for potential client who requested a logo/ident brand design for there new private banking dept based within the Santander group at Abbey building, Triton Sq London, which involved a merging of three companies who all wanted to keep there previous branding images. Although this kept my creative options narrow, it was still an opportunity for independent professional design. Sadly in the end the dept were unable to forward the job to me.

These are all images i produced to accompany some video recorded footage i received to which i was required to compose into a quiz like interactive program for a 'Hen party' for the bride and groom to be. I didn't have much time as i would have liked (which would have give me the chance to animates various connecting aspects within the work)  Although it turned out enough to serve a satisfactory outcome for the guys!
